drugs
Drugs are fascinating. Through their profound effects on both individuals and societies, drugs have shaped the course of human history. They have sparked passion and debate, inspiring religious sacraments or being banned entirely. If you accept Arthur C. Clarke’s third law, that “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic,” then any sufficiently advanced drug (basically all of them, to the untrained observer) seems like a potion capable of nearly anything. Humans’ mastery of certain drugs have saved and improved countless lives; our misunderstandings or misuse of drugs have harmed many others.
In this section, I’ll cover current events in the world of drugs, and dive deep into the money, politics, technology, and culture surrounding them. Due to my day job, this will have a heavy focus on marijuana and the movement from prohibition to regulation.
